The First 2 Weeks

During the first two weeks after breeding you may not notice much of a difference at all in your girl. However don't let that fool you. There are lots of little miracles taking place. The embryos will enter the uterus. The cells will start being 4 cells and then will divide into 64 cells.
As far as things you can see. The Dam may have a little bit of slight nausea. Not unlike a woman with morning sickness. There may be slight changes in personality. She may be a little more moody or more affectionate. She may possibly be a little more tired. Of course this is all depending on the Dam. Some may not show any of these signs.
As far as things you can do. Just keep up what you have been doing. Keep feeding the same food and exercising the same amount. Do not give any meds or vaccinations at this time without your vets approval. Your Dam may need to add a little weight and get some extra nutrients during pregnancy. Sometimes all she needs is a little puppy food. But you should stop feeding puppy food about two weeks before the pups are due. Then start feeding it again after birth. I have heard some say that you should not supplement with extra calcium during pregnancy. Calcium should be given after the pups are born though to help with milk supply and to help the uterus contract back to normal size. Of course discuss this with your vet. If your Dam needs extra weight he will know which are the best supplements.

Callie has had a little nausea, nothing major. She does seem to have a slight increase in appetite. She seems more interested in human food right now. She will not leave the kitchen while I am cooking. Just hoping for something to fall to the floor maybe. Not really any personality changes. I don't think it is possible for her to be more affectionate!!! She does seem to be a little more tired though. I have added a couple pics of Callie from today. This would be day 14 for her. No signs of a baby bump yet, but I think it will be interesting to compare towards the end of pregnancy. I even got a good shot from above while we were out on our walk. You can see she still has her girlish figure. The paparazzi will keep taking photos until we have proof!!! ;-)
