We Made It Through The First Week

It has been a very hard and emotional first week, but we made it. I will be honest when I picked her and Callie up from the Vet he didn't seem to have much hope. I know a lot of people like that. They figure that nature will just take its course and it is best not to intervene. I was determined though. That first day I did not even call her a her I just simply called her it. Hubby noticed it. He told me that he knew I was trying to not get attached. He was right. I had never even seen the little boy and I cried for him. But she just grabbed ahold of my heart and I have given her my everything since then. I am still an emotional wreck any time that she is not pooping when I think she should or she gets a little bloated. I just panic and I think I will lose her. These first two weeks are crucial to her survival. She is a little fighter though. When I picked her up from the Vet she was in a box with Callie and Callie did not understand that she had to keep this little squirmy thing warm or even avoid stepping on it. She was cold and being stepped on. We started warming her right away. She cried most of that first day. Now she acts like any other puppy of her age. She sleeps 90% of the time and eats and eliminates the other 10%. She does not really cry anymore because as soon as she makes even a little sound I am right there to pick her up and hold her close to my chest. She can not see and can not hear but she can feel my heartbeat and feel me breathing. It calms her very quickly. As much as she seems to love her "littermates" I have given her they can not give her that comfort. Speaking of comfort I have found some in great breeders on the internet. Whether I spoke with them in person (thanks again, Gabrielle of Eulenburg and Sharon of Cradle of Love) or just read their stories online it has been a great help to me.

She has not gained as much weight as I would have liked to see in this first week but I guess the main thing is that she is gaining everyday. Here is the weight in grams. She has gained almost 22 grams.
Birthday =102.06
Day 1 =96.39
Day 2 =99.22
Day 3 =106
Day 4 =106
Day 5 =116
Day 6 =121
Day 7 =124

Well as I said it has been a rough week and I am tired. So here are a few more pics and then it is off to bed for me. Hope you all are doing well.
